In blog post number two, I introduced Adblock Plus, a browser add-on that, fittingly, blocks ads from appearing on the webpage or any media player on the page. The Mozilla browser download page for Adblock Plus can be found here.

Luckily, the motivation for the development of Adblock Plus is pretty evident from the download page. In the About the Add-on section, the first sentence reads, "Adblock Plus allows you to regain control of the internet and view the web the way you want to." Coupling that with the fact that Adblock is totally free of charge, one could confidently infer that the motivation for Adblock Plus is to give internet users the freedom to control some of the advertising and content that they're subjected to. Having a motivation that is so very in tune with the target demographic is a large part of the reason that AdBlock Plus is so successful (though being free probably didn't hurt).
