I think that while good design should remove the bulk of online help and tutorials necessary, if the system is complicated or powerful enough, the need for online help will never be extinguished completely. For example, Photoshop could surely be designed to be more simple, user-friendly, and obvious, but the sheer amount that you can do with it makes it so that not every single function can come naturally.
The biggest category of people I think we're going to focus on in my group is high-schoolers who are familiar with superheros, but not obsessed with them. We're working with Spider-Man, who is one of the few stand-alone superheros to be a teenager in high school, and so that age group is a natural demographic to work with. My guess is that the large majority of people who would go to a Spider-Man movie would know a little about him, but not a lot. For example, they might know a few of his nemeses (Doc Oc, Green Goblin, Venom), but probably not a lot more than that.
