The webpage that I choose is LoLNexus. It is a website for game called "League of Legend." They offer the live inspection of the game and checking their stats.
I think the motivation for the website is to have more interaction within the users which is motivated by money. Since League of Legend is a free online game, they cannot make money if they do not have enough users. Therefore they offer free live inspection of other users and users can check each other's stats. From this webpage, the users can know other users reputation as well as how good are they. It increase the interaction among the users and so more and more people are actually involved in the game. And since they have good enough number of users, they can have earn money from advertisement, as well as their products. Therefore both users and money are the motivation of this website.

ReplyDeleteYou were definitely onto something when you mentioned user reputation. However, if you take a look at the TED talk assigned as well as Chapter 2 of Designing the Obvious, you'll see why "money" and "more users" are not the "why" of any website. In Designing the Obvious, it is pointed out that there are infinite ways to make money or get customers. Neither are why this particular website exists. Take a look at both and then feel free to reply to my comment with your new thoughts.
