If I were to cut off any unnecessary
and gimmicky features on YouTube by using the Unnecessary Test method, I would
cut off the use of Google+ features such as sharing comment options and other
social media features that Google are forcing upon YouTube to imitate Facebook
and Twitter. YouTube is a website mainly made for the purpose of watching and
uploading videos, not a social network website like Facebook and Twitter that
have the main purpose of communicating and sharing stuffs with friends. In that
regard, Google+ features on YouTube already violate the last 2 questions of
Unnecessary Test, which are “Does this feature contribute directly to the
completion of the task?” and “Is the task this feature supports vital to the
activity this application supports?” Those features are not needed in watching
videos.
